Bright dream, slow shutter speed

I dreamed of a bright place. Tall, white-bricked buildings. Footbridges everywhere. A second-hand store with a strange copy of Claymore, volume 5, for either $161.17 or $151.67.

I sat on a bench in front of the second-hand store. I glanced to my left and saw a very interesting aperture. I pulled out my digital camera, and focused on the composition. As I fired the camera, the shutter remained open for very long. I knew immediately my shot was blurry.

A man, around my age, complained that he couldn’t tell if he was worse than everyone else, or just lazy. I had some sympathy, but just thought he was a defeatist. He irritated me.

He then began to talk to me about cycles of resurrection. Every 6… I didn’t get the unit, just every 6.

Why was my camera’s shutter speed slow? This dream was particularly bright. I thought of heaven in that normative sense. So why was my camera slow?

The clear answer: light in my head does not follow the same rules as the light out of my head. Materially, they are different things. I don’t know what the light in my head really is. I can just tell you that it does not touch the camera’s sensor, so its shutter is slow.

A optimistic interpretation just leaves this in the mystical space. A pessimistic interpretation would suggest that my comprehension of materiality is fundamentally wrong—otherwise, my camera would’ve worked.
